Produce

We produce shoes in our own factories, providing employment, exceptional working conditions and community facilities.

OUR FACTORIES

Bata’s heritage lies in our global manufacturing. Each of our factories has been developed to cater for the local market, employing local people, sourcing local materials and purchasing from local businesses. We have also built Bata towns, giving our employees and their families homes, education and community facilities.

23

BATA’S SUSTAINABILITY GOALS TO SUPPORT OUR 2020 COMMITMENTS

Bata’s environmental program has been active since the early 1980s. Today, we continue to aspire to sustainable excellence, working closely with our employees to identify further opportunities to save energy, reduce our carbon footprint, use less water and generate less waste.

As part of our 2020 commitments to build sustainable growth, we targeted ourselves with introducing sustainability key performance indicators or goals to monitor activities throughout our organization.

These are focused on six areas: energy, water, waste, occupational safety, gender and volunteering.
For 2015, here’s what we aim to achieve:

Our Associate Business Units

To support our production, parts of the process e.g. stitching uppers, are outsourced to closely linked local businesses. Often set up by entrepreneurial employees, these companies are effectively an extension of our local manufacturing. We view these Associate Business Units (ABUs) as part of our extended Bata family, sharing the same values and standards.
